The World War II military quonset hut was the forerunner to modern day steel buildings. Quonset huts were built during the war to help soldiers out in the field to have a place to stay while away at war. Quonset huts were easy to put up and take down. Civilians caught on to the idea of the Quonset hut design and they quickly became popular. The basic building design of the Quonset hut is used today for many purposes.
